Floridian's have received Temporary Relief from Residential Foreclosures and Evictions

Posted by Monica Frost | Apr 03, 2020 | 0 Comments

Governor DeSantis signed a Temporary Relief Order which suspends and tolls residential foreclosures and residential tenant evictions for non-payment of rent for 45 days beginning April 2, 2020. This Order does not excuse borrowers or tenants from their mortgage or rent obligations. Borrowers and Tenants should not rely on this Order as an excuse to not pay their Mortgage or Rent. This merely gives residents more time to work with their mortgage providers and landlords before facing foreclosure and evictions.

How to Comply with Time-Sharing during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic

If you are having issues regarding what to do regarding your current time-sharing schedule during the Coronavirus Pandemic, do your best to follow the current time-sharing arrangement. If that is impossible due to travel restrictions or mandatory quarantine, then work with the other parent. Be flexible. Remember the child needs to know that both of his/her parents are safe, and are thinking about him/her. Make sure that both parents have frequent contact with the child. Be open to make-up time, and be flexible in determining alternative exchange times and locations. We all need to work together. Keep in mind, the Courts will have the ability to sanction parents who take advantage of the other parent during this crisis.
